Sydney, 28 October 2013 – Bravura Solutions (Bravura) is proud to announce that two of its employees will embark on a 4330km motorcycle ride across Australia to the ASFA 2013 National Conference in Perth, as they seek to raise $1 for every kilometre travelled for Alzheimer’s Australia.

Darren Stevens, Director of Strategy and John Burke, Head of Strategic Accounts for Bravura will set off on 6 November on their seven night (camping), eight day epic journey from Melbourne to the ASFA Conference in Perth.

Burke said: “A key purpose of our industry is to provide for Australians when they stop working. This really means ensuring quality of life in old-age. Deloitte Access Economics reports that by 2050 almost one million Australians will be living with dementia – most of those will be members of super funds that are governed, administered and run by the members of ASFA.

“The ASFA conference this year will attract around 1,000 people. If Deloitte is right, then around 40 people at this event alone will suffer from dementia in the future, and virtually everyone will be touched by it via a family member or friend.”

Stevens said: “We chose to support Alzheimer’s Australia not just to raise much needed funds for research, but to continue to raise awareness within the wealth management community about a condition that will reach into our workplaces and touch every one of us.”

In the spirit of going Beyond the Horizon (the theme for this year’s National ASFA Conference), John and Darren will depart Melbourne at dawn and will literally cross the nation. The ride will take them along the Great Ocean Road and through the Clare Valley, before reaching Port Augusta. From there, they will cross the Nullarbor Plain to finally arrive at the premier wealth management event of the year. They are due to arrive in Perth on the morning of 13 November.
